Camille Coléon
It is through a sensitive atmosphere, inspired by our environment, that the plastic universe of Camille Coléon questions notions of anthropocene and anthropology.
With different performative or sculptural approaches, subjects of study linked to architecture and material culture are developed. These studies are mobilised around an instinctive curiosity: What impact does time and gravity or what we might call the invisible physical world have on the daily life of man?
In order to make these experiments exist, several construction protocols were set up, such as the creation of mechanisms to suspend everyday objects. This facilitates the deposit of the projected plaster and thus highlights the impact of gravity which freezes in the material.
Intriguing forms then appear as informal sculptures and try to define a poetic relationship around their new use. The primary functionality slowly fades away in this gangrene, leaving curves and volumes that bear witness to the passing of time. In an environment surrounded by objects implanted in what is called a material culture, how can we question man's instinctive capacity for construction?
Without talking about hijacking works of art or researching its recycling, "materialism" is part of a "multifaceted" context, reflecting historical, anthropological, social and commercial phenomena.
An art exhibition space could in turn define a context in the making. What can we build as an architectural form with what surrounds us? By grouping together objects selected for their potential or simply scraps of various materials that cannot be used on their own, we can create frameworks by covering them with mortar. Inspired in architecture by representative symbols of the past, structures take shape from the materials that compose them. They can sometimes be fragile and are mainly in situ. They are intended to define and establish installations that are exposed to being wrecked and destroyed to make room for renewal. So much so that other objects such as artificial rocks become in some research a material still to be explored as construction tools. All his different researches tend to be studied more and more in depth.
