Amaranta Aranda
Amaranta Aranda is a French-Mexican artist based in Brussels, Belgium. Her work explores the beliefs that condition and construct us as human beings and as a society. What are their origins? Do they have consequences on our societies? Are we really free to think? Or are we shaped by the remnants of religions, the mirages of universalist and democratic myths and the illusions of our ancestors and our social environment? It examines, among other things, the relationships we establish as human beings with the non-human: the animal, the vegetable and the mineral. In order to highlight the systems of thought that lead us to act in a certain way, she uses the diversion of classic modes of representation from Western art history and founding myths.
