Julie Deutsch
By confronting the realities of the places in which she wishes to act, Julie Deutsch develops a body of work in which a set of political landscapes, significant details and traces cohabit with the brutality of the present and the need for a preserved memory. By taking the time and distance necessary for her plastic approach, the artist advances, step by step, in a visual and critical reflection on the mechanisms of domination, control and surveillance. Palestine, or the Arab world as a whole, has been a field of research and experimentation to date, enabling her to shed light on a complex humanity, prevented histories, constrained and restricted bodies, assigned to a territory.
